It is important for my double page spread to have the codes and conventions of a pop magazine. This includes things like: a gap where the page separates and the same colour scheme as the rest of my magazine. My main body text needs to be organised into columns. My target audience, of 9-15 year olds, will expect a main photo, matching what/who the article is about, as images are the main appeal to the young audience. The title needs to be large to catch the eye of the reader, with text that will stand out well from the background. Large quotations from the 'celebrity' are also useful when targeting a young audience, as it makes them want to understand the context of the quote, drawing the reader in to looking at he whole article. All models need to be wearing fashionable clothing but nothing too provocative as the magazine needs to suitable for the young audience. All the models need to look happy.
I have compared two magazine front covers so see the similarities and differences between the two.
This is a photo shoot I used for my front cover but it is versatile enough to be used in the contents too. I wanted my model to be happy and playful but this made it hard to take a perfectly timed photo. The lighting and focus were good in most of these, so I only needed to find the right pose. As this isn't the main photo, the clothing was kept to a neutral black.
