Contents Page Construction

After looking at magazine contents pages, I decided to make my layout like this. the grey columns will be lists of articles including page numbers. The yellow box will be an image of my front cover, with the green boxes being page numbers pointing at the articles on the front cover. the orange box will be the title.

My contents page was started sizing the page correctly and making the background colour to the same blue as my front cover. The text columns were added in white with a pink border. This is so the reader can easily see the text on the white backing, and the pink border makes the columns stand out while sticking with the colour scheme.

'This months sound' was a play on words of the front cover's masthead, which is 'pop sound'. This will catch the readers eye more than just having 'contents' as the title. In order to have continuity, I used the same font as the masthead. I chose blue as the text colour to keep a good ratio of the colours used from the colour scheme.

Text was added, including page numbers. A star shaped text box was added to draw the readers attention towards the articles. Yellow with a blue border was used to make the shape stand out from the rest of the text.

The front cover image was added to the blank area. In order to stop the front cover getting lost in the background, I added a blue border, as they both have the same background colour. The blue used is the same colour as the deep blue colour in the title text.
To help things stand out, shadow was added to the boxes. This creates a 3D effect that the young readers will enjoy.
I have chosen this photo to make a poster. This poster will be previewed on the contents page.

Since the background is light, I decided to not remove it. Instead, the image was cropped to fit the regular portrait poster layout.

A small star shape was added with the 'celebrity's' name inside. This stands out from the background but is small enough to have the main focus be the model.

The magazine's masthead was also added to the poster. this will help with advertisement of the magazine.

The finished poster was added to the contents page, including a caption in a heart shaped text box. The heart symbolises that the magazine writers 'love' the poster.
The left column was separated into two columns. In the lower half, Facebook and Twitter information was added. This will attract the young audience as the majority of them use social media.
Also, a page number was added to the bottom right hand corner.

Page numbers and arrows were added to the picture of the front cover. These point to the different articles on the front cover.

The website was added. This is extra advertisement for the magazine.
This is my final product.
